WGU-Washington offers continuous monthly enrollment and a self-paced competency based model, meaning we give credit only when a student shows competency through getting a “B” or better on an exam or assignment, rather than hours spent in a classroom. All classes are online, so we can offer tuition that is considerably less than brick and mortar universities and our students frequently maintain employment that further reduces the financial burden of obtaining a degree.

 Target population is

* IT professionals who wish to work in the healthcare environment;

* Allied health professionals interested in working with information systems and learning how health information can be shared with internal and external stakeholders;

* Current health information management professionals who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills in using information systems to manage health information.

Medical Informatics is the intersection of health care and technology. Although the field is relatively new, it has been ranked as one of the top five healthcare careers by US News and World Report. At Bellevue Community College we offer a Certificate in Medical Informatics, a three quarter, 30 credit program designed for both working professionals and students who want to gain employment in this stimulating and emerging field. Individuals with backgrounds in healthcare or information technology fields are urged to apply.
The certificate program is currently being offered in both an instructor-led and an online format.
  • The instructor-led courses are especially appealing to students who learn best when working directly with the instructor and your classmates.
  • The online class is perfect for people who are self-starters and who need a flexible course schedule.
