Spokane Regional Health District
The Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) seeks a Community Health Director to lead the Community Health Division providing strategic leadership and engagement. The Director oversees departments with various services and programs and provides leadership to Program Managers. Under the direction of the Administrative Officer, the Community Health Director creates policies and procedures within the Community Health Division and participates in the creation and development of public health policy utilizing data-driven decision-making.
As a valued member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director serves as a liaison to agency committees and task forces. The Community Health Director provides leadership for developing and implementing Spokane Regional Health District’s strategic plan, contributes to the District’s setting of public health goals, and ensures consistency in applying policies. The Community Health Director is responsible for all division activities by directing and monitoring programs defined by contracts, grants, agency priorities, and state laws.

With a strong knowledge of public health administration, including issues and trends, the successful candidate strives to deliver the highest level of service to the community at all levels.
The Director is an experienced and approachable leader with a strong foundation in community engagement and partnerships. With a strong background in community health, the Director recognizes the importance of fostering relationships with the community, understanding their needs, and incorporating them in Community Health programming. Additionally, the Director motivates and encourages staff to maximize their skills and capabilities to best serve the needs of the District and the community.
Five years of management experience in a supervisory capacity in public health or a mid to large-sized professional social services or health agency with demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and influence towards success and effectiveness with positive employee experience and outcomes are required. A strong community health background is essential.
An understanding of health equity and working with vulnerable populations is highly valued. A successful record of creating, improving, and executing programs at scale with the ability to drive and measure program effectiveness and high levels of customer satisfaction is preferred. Prior negotiation experience with a collective bargaining team is strongly desired.
A master’s degree involving major study in public health, public administration, or a related field appropriate for the division or a bachelor’s with seven years of the described experience is ideal.
The salary range for the position is $86,284 – $133,855 and will depend on the qualifications of the successful candidate.
