WSHIMA has a lot going on! Part of my job as Executive Director is to not only make the job of the Board easier, but it is also to identify who you are, what you want and need, and help determine how to serve you better. It also is to work with AHIMA, contribute and help coordinate our state’s responses to AHIMA-backed initiatives, and to work with our vendors to develop a strong corporate partnership program.
It is no surprise that everyone is working harder and has less time and cash. We see it in the amount of time our volunteers have to work on projects. We see it in the choices you have to make in spending your education dollars. We are hopeful we can be relevant to you as your professional organization, providing you with the ability to network virtually as well as in person at meetings. Those connections are important in your professional (as well as personal) life.
We are very grateful for your membership, and we are committed to finding ways to provide Continuing Education at as low a cost as possible. This year we have focused on short, 3-4 credit half days at $10-$15 per CE unit. We hope to expand it from the Puget Sound area over to the East side of the state. Also, we are preparing an annual meeting with some pricing options that we hope you’ll agree are attractive. We are planning some wonderful speakers and are busy recruiting new vendors to exhibit. Finally, we have begun building a Resource section on our website that will assist you with Federal and State laws and regulations. We hope to have that available this winter. As I said, there is a lot going on!
