Distinguished Member Award
This award acknowledges WSHIMA member(s) who have made outstanding contributions to the profession and/or professional associations.
Qualifications:
Any member in good standing of the Washington State Health Information Management Association (WSHIMA) who exemplifies the professional image of the Association and has participated at the state, national or international level in one of the following ways:
- Contributed in such a way as to bring recognition to WSHIMA as well as the individual;
- Exemplified exceptional or outstanding service, well above and beyond what is expected;
- Developed imaginative administrative or management techniques; or
- Pioneered the advancement of medical record practitioners in traditional or nontraditional settings.
Online Nomination:
Nominations must be submitted online. Include a brief outline of the candidate’s qualifications and documentation that the candidate meets the established criteria.
The deadline for nominations is March 31, 2023. The award recipient(s) are announced at the WSHIMA Annual Meeting.

Professional Achievement Award
This award recognizes WSHIMA member(s) who, through their efforts and example, have been an inspiration to those who know them and has advanced the association’s ideals through contemporary and innovative achievements.
Qualifications:
Any member in good standing of the Washington State Health Information Management Association (WSHIMA) is eligible. The achievement may be in one or more of the following areas?
- Creative and resourceful management or administrative techniques in health information;
- Publication of an article, literature, or materials that contribute to the field of health information management;
- Research to promote and develop innovations in the field of health information management;
- Significant contributions to health information management and/or technology in areas such as:
- The development of the computerized patient record;
- Leadership in getting issues before the membership (state or local);
- Acting as a representative of WSHIMA, or advocate, on governmental, state, local, or national tasks groups;
- Leadership in education either as an outstanding clinical supervisor or an outstanding educator.
