Transformation: From Surviving to Thriving
The Washington State Health Information Management Association (WSHIMA) recognizes that our association and profession benefit from the talents and energy of well-educated graduates of Health Informatics and Health Information Management and Technology programs in Washington State. To assist qualified health information students and professionals in their educational endeavors, WSHIMA offers three scholarships:
- The Sister Peter Olivaint Scholarship Program. WSHIMA is pleased to announce that we are offering three 2021 scholarships, each in the amount of $2,000.00. These three scholarships will not be school specific but are open to WSHIMA Student Members of any CAHIIM approved program.
- The Long-Term Care Health Information Management Scholarship Program. WSHIMA is pleased to announce that through a recent generous donation we are offering five 2021 scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000.00. These five scholarships will be school specific (1 per HIM program) but are open to all WSHIMA Members enrolled in any of the following CAHIIM approved program: Associates programs at Shoreline Community College, Spokane Community College, Tacoma Community College. Bachelors programs at University of Washington and Tacoma Community College.
- The WSHIMA Professional Development Scholarship is open to any active WSHIMA member advancing their education and knowledge through contemporary and innovative achievements. To assist AHIMA credentialed health information professionals (HIM) in the state of Washington, WSHIMA offers monetary awards to HIM professionals in order to further their HIM careers. Examples include pursuing an advanced AHIMA Credential such as CCS, CHDA, CHPS, CDIP or moving into the emerging field of health informatics. The scholarship award could be used for education or prep work in order to pass a credentialing exam. WSHIMA will award two 2021 scholarship for up to $1,000.00 each.
